Firozpur ke kavi

A distinguished kavishar and master of poetic metre (chhandbandi) from Punjab, particularly the Malwa region. His 72-kalaa chhand “Maan De Makhni Khaniyo Ve” remains popular among the people even today.

A renowned medieval poet, the second Guru of the Sikhs, and a reformer. The 63 saloks composed by him are included in the Guru Granth Sahib.

He documented folk ballads, religious narratives, and the biographies of patriotic martyrs in Kavishari, and was honored with the “Shiromani Kavishar” award.
