Pandit Daulat Ram was a renowned Punjabi kissa-kar (storyteller-poet) of the 20th century. He was born in 1870 in the village of Ramgarh Sardaran, Ludhiana district, Punjab. He received his early education from Bishan Das Vairagi at a dera (religious center) and also acquired knowledge of Gurmukhi. At a young age, Daulat Ram lost his father, which placed the responsibilities of both household and external affairs on his shoulders. Despite these challenges, he continued to pursue his literary endeavors alongside managing his responsibilities.
Daulat Ram significantly enriched the tradition of Punjabi kissa-kav (narrative poetry). He composed 15 large-scale kissas, which are considered significant works in Punjabi literature. His compositions encompassed romantic tales, folk stories, and themes addressing social issues. Some of his notable works include *Roop Basant*, *Pooran Bhagat*, *Raja Rasalu*, *Hari Chand*, *Prasang Mata Sulakhni*, *Gyan Gulzar*, and *Aatam Prakash*.
