A renowned Dhadi singer, poet, short story writer, novelist, and researcher. A Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer for the novel Jugg Badal Gaya.

Sohan Singh Seetal became renowned in the Punjabi world as a prominent Dhadi (traditional ballad singer) during his time, while simultaneously establishing his identity in the field of literature. He was born on August 7, 1909, to Mata Dial Kaur and father Khushal Singh in the village of Kadiwind, tehsil Kasur, district Lahore. He was married to Kartar Kaur while still studying in the eighth grade. In terms of educational qualifications, he completed his matriculation and Gyani (a religious studies degree).

In his early life, he engaged in farming. After that, his journey as a writer began, and gradually, he connected with the Dhadi tradition, eventually setting up his own press to sustain his livelihood.

Sohan Singh Seetal initially began literary writing as a hobby, but later adopted it as his profession. He had closely and deeply observed the pain of partition and the inner lives of farming families, experiences that he brought into his writings. He wrote stories, novels, plays, songs, poems, and vars (ballads). He authored eighteen books, including titles like Seetal Kirnan, Seetal Sunehe, and Seetal Hulare. The themes of these vars are related to Sikh religion, Sikh history, Sikh Gurus, Sikh warriors, Sikh sacrifices, Shaheeds (martyrs), and Ghallugharas (Sikh massacres).

The impact of Sohan Singh Seetal's these vars was such that over 1.5 lakh copies of Seetal Kirnan were sold, and following that, he gained fame as a Dhadi.

Being connected to a Sikh family, he had an interest in understanding Sikh history. Due to this interest, he initiated a complete historical series in which he wrote works such as How the Sikh Raj Was Lost, Dukhi Maa Putt, Banda Singh Shahid, How the Sikh Raj Was Formed, and more.

On September 23, 1998, he bid farewell to this world.
