Ahmed Salim was a famous Punjabi and Urdu poet, playwright, researcher, and translator. He was born on January 26, 1945 AD, in Miyana Gondal, Tehsil Phalia, District Gujrat. His father's name was Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and mother's name was Zubeida Begum. Ahmed Salim obtained his primary education from the village's primary school and did his Matric from Peshawar. He did his F.A. from Karachi and after that Ahmed Salim obtained B.A. and M.A. degrees. He was deeply connected with the Progressive Literature Movement and struggled throughout his life for the promotion of the Punjabi language. In 1968 AD, he started a job in the National Bank but later he devoted full time to literature.

Ahmed Salim became famous mainly as a poet and he became more famous by getting published in Indian magazines for two to three decades. His first poetry collection Noor-Minare was published in 1956 AD. After that, his poetry collections Kunjan Moian, Ghari di Tick-Tick, Merian Nazman Mord de, and Ek Udri Kitab de Be-Tarteeb Warqe are published. In addition, Chaumukha Diva poetry collection editor is also published. In Ahmed Salim's poetry, mainly opposition to military dictatorship, waves of human liberation and struggle, fervor of love, his commitment to mutual closeness between India-Pakistan and shared culture, and rigidity towards values and evaluations are the core issues of his poetic creation. In 1971 AD, during the national rebellion in Bangladesh when the armies of West Pakistan unleashed indescribable oppression on Bengalis under the orders of military dictators, then Ahmed Salim from Pakistani Punjab was the only poet who wrote poems in favor of the Bengalis' national liberation movement and openly supported it.

In 2001 AD, he co-founded the South Asian Research and Resource Center, which is a private archive and preserves the literary and historical resources of South Asia. Ahmed Salim's death occurred on December 10, 2023 AD. His departure shocked the literary circles of both Punjabs deeply.
