A renowned medieval Punjabi Sufi poet and spiritual ascetic. His full name was Fariduddin Mas‘ud. He is counted among the earliest poets of Punjabi literature.
Baba Sheikh Farid Ji is a great Sufi poet among the foremost poets of Punjabi literature; his sweet verses have earned him the name Ganjshakar. Baba Farid Ji's Bani is recorded in the Guru Granth Sahib as 130 Shaloks (116 Shaloks by Farid Ji + 14 Shaloks by the Gurus).
