Chanan Gobindpuri was a renowned Punjabi poet and ghazal singer. He was born on February 5, 1924, in the village of Gobindpura, Jalandhar district. His full name was Chanan Ram Kaler, but he adopted his village name, Gobindpuri, as his pen name. He completed his education up to matriculation from B.D. High School, Banga. Due to financial constraints at home, he could not pursue further studies, but he secured a job in the central government through the UPSC. Chanan Gobindpuri worked in the Ministry of Chemical Fertilizers in Delhi and retired from the post of Under Secretary.

He is known in Punjabi literature for his emotional and profound ghazals. His passion for poetry began in childhood, and he wrote his first composition at the age of fourteen. He was a master of ghazal techniques and a disciple of Josh Malsiyani. His notable works include *Sada Lok Virsa*, *Punjabi Lok Kav Di Meel Pathar*, *Punjabi Ghazal*, *Ghazal te Aruz*, *Ghazal Deep Gulzar Chanan*, and *Mithiyan Peedan*. His ghazals are filled with romantic emotions, the pain of separation, and philosophical reflections on life. In addition to ghazals, he also composed many songs that were sung by prominent Punjabi artists such as Tufail Niazi, Surinder Kaur, Gurdas Maan, and Asa Singh Mastana.

He passed away on January 29, 2006.
