Jaswant Deed's poetry is, in essence, a quest for the authentic simplicity of self-existence and a satire on arrogant existence. His poetic technique delivers a sharp jolt, an unexpected turn, and reimagines the entire existing poetic patterns from their roots in a fresh form. In truth, Jaswant Deed's poetry does not merely portray human character; rather, it extracts and reveals the character's human and inhuman, good and evil, heroic and anti-heroic, meaningful and meaningless aspects. According to Punjabi critic Gurbachan, Jaswant Deed is the poet of the inconsistencies and inner conflicts of contemporary humanity. He is the poet of the restlessness, wandering, and search that lingers within this human being.
