Prakash Saathi was a renowned Punjabi poet, lyricist, and playwright. He was born on March 5, 1928, in the village of Nand, Sheikhupura district (now in Pakistan). Following the Partition of India, his family relocated and settled in Indian Punjab. His real name was Om Prakash Prabhakar. From childhood, he exhibited a keen interest in poetry and literature, which later formed the foundation of his illustrious career.

Prakash Saathi first established his identity as a poet and gradually emerged as a distinguished lyricist and playwright. His notable poetry collections include Yadaan Jaag Paiyaan, Anvidhe Moti, Khushi De Hanju, Piyase Jaam, Sadke Tere Haase Ton, Darpan Dil Da, and Rul De Moti. His works predominantly explored themes such as social issues, love, separation, and the poignant "tears of happiness." In addition to poetry and songs, he penned numerous lyrics for Punjabi and Hindi films, many of which continue to resonate deeply with audiences even today. Alongside his contributions to verse and music, his involvement in theater elevated Punjabi dramatic arts to new heights.
