Pritam Singh Kasad was a famous Punjabi poet, editor and playwright. He is called the pillar of stage poetry. His birth took place on 5 September 1923 A.D. in Gah village, district Jhelum. Pritam Singh Kasad obtained M.A. and Giani degree. The Giani degree made him an expert in Sikh scriptures, Gurbani interpretation and Punjabi literature, which is reflected through the religious and cultural themes in his poetry. In 1947 A.D., his family came from Pakistan to India and settled in New Delhi. In this new environment, many difficulties arose in supporting the family and doing a job, but he continued writing poetry and participating in poetry gatherings.
Pritam Singh Kasad was active in Punjabi poetry circles and he wrote more than 20 books of Punjabi poetry. Along with this, he also did work in drama and editing. His poetry collections are Azaadi De Vedi Te, Jaag Manukhta Jaag, Kesri Nishan, Khadag Khalsa, Ruttan De Parchhaven, Asi Haan Khalse, etc. In addition to this, he also wrote Nashaian Kanga Ghazal Sangrah. In Pritam Singh Kasad's poetry, themes related to patriotism, social reform, glory of Sikh religion, romantic subjects and glory of Khalsa Panth are prominent. He highlighted Sikh identity, warrior heritage and freedom struggles in his poetry.
