Geet on Punjab

Today, Punjab is divided

between India and Pakistan, known respectively as Charda Punjab and Lehnda Punjab. Gurmukhi is used in Indian Punjab, while Shahmukhi is used in Pakistani Punjab. Historically called Pentapotamia, Sapta Sindhu, and Panchanad, Punjab often stood at the forefront of invasions into India, shaping its people’s resilient and courageous nature. This spirit is reflected in Punjabi culture and literature. Over centuries, Punjab became a centre for diverse literary traditions, including Vedic, Nath-Yogi, Gurmat, Sufi, Qissa, and Bhakti literature.
