Guru Arjan Dev Ji is a famous poet of the medieval Punjabi literature, a social reformer, the first martyr Guru, and the fifth Guru Sahib of the Sikh religion. Guru Arjan Dev Ji ascended the Gurugaddi at Goindwal Sahib in 1581 and his hymns are recorded in the Guru Granth Sahib in 30 ragas in the form of 2313 Shabads. Guru Arjan Dev Ji edited the Adi Granth Sahib, which was completed in 1604 .
